Getting A Tarot Reading (REVIEW)

Using a deck of cards in fortune-telling or divination is known as cartomancy. One of the most known practices in cartomancy is called tarot. Reading tarot cards provides insight to the past, present, and future through a process of drawing and interpreting the cards, typically in regards to a mindful question. There are 78 cards in a tarot deck, including fifty-six minor arcana and 22 major arcana.

While some explore the world of tarot spiritually as a means of connecting to a larger universe for answers, others combine the fields of astrology, numerology, or religion as well. Similarly, some engage with the cards through a lens of psychology, or simply as a way to view situations in their life from a different perspective.

I was first introduced to tarot by my friend, Brittany, the Story Sorceress. She gave me my first deck and walked me through the basics of the craft. Her approach to tarot includes astrology, numerology, and natural magic via herbs, flowers, and more. All that I've learned has aided me in my writing, especially with Iron Bullet Legacy, but I also enjoy it as a hobby now, and look at tarot like a puzzle you build yourself.

Whether you’re new to tarot and curious, or familiar –maybe even considering yourself a seasoned witch– I recommend getting a reading from this new face on Instagram. Although she’s just started out recently on the platform, she’s been practicing tarot for ten years and offers a variety of readings at low prices. Her insight is consistently holistic, and she maintains a wide variety of interpretations for every card as they may pertain to different situations.

During part of my last reading, it was suggested that my focus on self-care has lately been too all-or-nothing (which is true, confirmed by my perfectionism) and I was advised to start prioritizing it regardless of whether or not it's perfectly planned and executed. The insight I received encouraged me, reiterating the notion that even the smallest, shaky, steps still move you forward.

Types of questions you could ask for a reading could be regarding love, your career, or a future decision, but, if you don’t have a particular inquiry in mind, you can also get a past/present/future reading, which I recommend to everyone starts out with. Brittany also offers astrology chart readings, which contain some of my favorite info, including a basic sun, moon, and rising zodiac sign interpretation!

You can find Brittany on Instagram here, @TheStorySorceress, where you can dm her for more info or to begin an order! All of her services are listed in the highlights. You can check out her feed for some of her day-to-day tarot pulls as well.

Thanks for reading!

Disclosure: This is a review, not a sponsored advertisement. I have known Brittany for six months as of post date, and recommend her work regardless of our friendship.
